„"Dining with a view" is the restaurant's advertising slogan. Villa Vue And this can certainly be interpreted in two ways. Located in the south of Essen and with a breathtaking view over the Essen district Werden, the Brehminsel, the weir and the Baldeneysee up to Villa Hügel Blessed with natural beauty, Villa Vue offers everything one could wish for in an ambitious restaurant: an appealing ambience, personal service and a diverse, delicious menu.
Appealing Ruhr region cuisine
Restaurant, café, bowling alley, event venue – Villa Vue is perfect for almost any occasion. Comedian and Cologne resident Mirja Boes and her business partners have found their culinary home at Villa Vue, seasoned with a generous dose of regional flavor. Ruhr area specialties like "Feldsalat mit Dippe" (field salad with dip), "Himmel & Erde" (mashed potatoes and applesauce), or "Grillteller Schimanski" (Schimanski grill platter) are featured on the menu, as well as the ever-popular currywurst. The special touch here: the sausage is made with bison meat, and the fries are served with truffle mayonnaise.

In addition to these local specialties, culinary classics round out the menu. Roast beef with fried potatoes, Wiener Schnitzel with sweet potato fries, as well as melt-in-your-mouth braised ox cheeks with Burgundy sauce or boneless pike-perch fillet are all available. The staff is happy to accommodate special requests. They execute them quickly and with a focus on the guest, and offer excellent alternatives if a request cannot be fulfilled exactly as requested – at least that's been our experience during our visits.
Children, coffee and cake
Dark wood and golden accents create an ambiance that can be described as traditional-modern. Only the layout of the rooms is reminiscent of the traditional restaurant Zur Platte, which closed its doors in 2011 after half a century, and was succeeded by Villa Vue, which opened in 2012. The tea dances are a thing of the past, but coffee and cake are still available. And little ones are also warmly welcomed at Villa Vue. In addition to lovingly designed wooden high chairs and a special children's menu, there are also activities offered – much to the delight of the adults.
Way to Villa Vue
The approach to Villa Vue is from Bredeney and Werden coming via the B224, before turning into the "Weg zur Platte" and after passing through the forest past the wildlife enclosure in Heissiwald the parking The Villa Vue is easily accessible. It's located right on the doorstep, certainly another plus. The circular hiking trail BaldeneySteig runs below the Villa Vue.
