Dining with a view of the Baldeneysee
"Food with a view" is the slogan of the Villa Vue restaurant and this can certainly be understood ambiguously. Located in the south of Essen and with a breathtaking view over the Werden district of Essen, the Brehminsel, the weir and the Baldeneysee up to the Villa Hügel Villa Vue offers everything you could wish for from an ambitious restaurant: an appealing ambience, personal service and a wide variety of delicious dishes.
Delightful Ruhr region fare
Restaurant, café, bowling alley, event location - a visit to Villa Vue is suitable for almost any occasion. Comedian and Cologne resident Mirja Boes and her business partners have found their gastronomic home at Villa Vue, spiced up with a good dash of regionality. Ruhr area fare such as "Feldsalat mit Dippe", "Himmel & Erde" or "Grillteller Schimanski" can be found on the menu as well as the ever-popular currywurst. The special feature here: the sausage is prepared with bison meat and the chips are accompanied by truffle mayonnaise.
Service indicator: Special requests
In addition to these local favorites, culinary classics round off the culinary delights on offer. Roast beef with roast potato, Wiener schnitzel with sweet potato fries, but also melt-in-the-mouth ox cheeks with Burgundy sauce or boneless fillet of zander can be found here. The service is open to special requests. They carry them out quickly and in a guest-oriented manner and offer excellent alternatives if a request cannot be implemented one-to-one, as we experienced during our visits.
Children, coffee and cake
Dark wood and golden accents, the ambience can be described as traditional-modern. Only the room layout is reminiscent of the traditional restaurant Zur Platte, which closed its doors in 2011 after half a century and was followed by Villa Vue, which opened in 2012. The tea dance is history, but coffee and cake are of course still available. And the little ones are also very welcome at Villa Vue. In addition to lovingly designed wooden children's chairs and an extra children's menu, there are also activities on offer - much to the delight of the adults.
Path to Villa Vue
The approach to Villa Vue is from Bredeney and Werden via the B224, before turning into the "Weg zur Platte" and after passing through the forest past the game reserve in the Heissiwald the Villa Vue parking lot. This is right on the doorstep, which is certainly another plus point. The BaldeneySteig circular hiking trail runs below Villa Vue. At Villa Vue, you can also obtain the official hiking map of the city of Essen for the BaldeneySteig free of charge.
