Cult cop with retro charm investigates on Baldeneysee
Essen, Baldeneysee, November 24, 2025. After a hiatus of over a decade, Mick Brisgau is back – and with him, the cult TV series "The Last Cop." Henning Baum once again slips into the role of the tough Ruhr area cop who, after twenty years in a coma, stumbled into a modern world full of smartphones, gender debates, and digital investigations. His charm still lies in the contrast: a man with instinct and gut feeling, who prefers to rely on his fists and experience rather than databases and algorithms. It is precisely this mix of retro macho and vulnerable hero that has made the series a viewer favorite.
The first case on Baldeneysee
The new season seamlessly continues this tradition, but brings a breath of fresh air to Mick's life. His very first case takes him to the Baldeneysee in Essen A place that many Ruhr area residents associate with leisure and idyllic scenery, but which quickly becomes the stage for a new crime for Mick. What initially appears to be a harmless assignment develops into a complex case where old rivalries and new dangers collide. The lake, usually a place of tranquility, becomes the scene of intrigue and investigations that prove to Mick once again that his "old-fashioned" methods are far from obsolete.
Cult cop caught between two worlds
The series blends nostalgia with suspense: fans experience familiar characters, witty dialogue, and the unmistakable humor, while new cases demonstrate that the last cop is still needed today. Case Baldeneysee is just the beginning – a symbol of Mick Brisgau's tendency to turn up wherever the Ruhr region reveals its darker side.
The new season is available on Prime Video and has been broadcast on free-to-air television on Sat.1 since November 24, 2025.
