Be active on and around the water
The Baldeneysee reservoir in Essen, with its rolling hills, wooded banks, and historic buildings, is a magical place that captivates sports enthusiasts, those seeking tranquility, and those with other activity preferences. As the largest reservoir on the Ruhr River, it offers a vast expanse of water for countless activities and a 14.7-kilometer-long lakeside path, considered one of the most beautiful cruising and rolling routes in the region, and the perfect area for land-based activities. Everywhere you look, you experience the transition from industrial history to unspoiled nature: The Krupp family's Villa Hügel steamship proudly overlooks the Baldeneysee on the northern shore, while the old... Railway bridge Kupferdreh represents the fastest connection between the districts of Heisingen and Kupferdreh.

Runners, cyclists, and inline skaters appreciate the perfectly paved circular path, which offers not only athletic challenges but also breathtaking views. Scenic viewpoints appear repeatedly amidst the interplay of light and shadow cast by ancient trees, offering glimpses of the lake's shimmering waters reflected in the sun.
