High volume of traffic expected at the weekend
Essen, Baldeneysee, July 08, 2025 - Baldeneysee will become a hotspot for festival fans next Saturday, July 12, 2025: The SMAG Sundance invites you to Seaside Beach Baldeney and promises pure sun beats and summer fun. The weather forecast is good and the expected crowds are correspondingly high. Because where there's partying, there are also cars - and there will certainly be a lot of them.
Parking lots in a state of emergency
In order to cope with the rush of visitors, Lerchenstraße will be used downhill towards Essen-Werden will be partially converted and released for parking. Please pay attention to the signs and park your car accordingly. This will create around 250 additional parking spaces over a distance of around 1,500 meters. But be careful: according to information from the city of Essen, the opposite direction will be off-limits - the cycle lane will remain and must not be parked in.
Spur road to Seaside Beach closed
The Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße branch road, which runs parallel to Seaside Beach Baldeney and leads directly to the beach club, is to be completely closed from 13:30. A good opportunity to think about alternative routes and times.
S-Bahn S6 canceled
Attention public transportation fans! The S-Bahn S6, the direct connection from Essen main station (HBF) to the Baldeneysee and onwards via Düsseldorf main station to Cologne-Deutz station is currently not running - instead, replacement buses on the S6 line have been deployed as rail replacement services at regular intervals. They stop above the Regattaturm parking lot, near the "Hügel" stop. From 17:30, the bus frequency will be increased so that all dance fans can arrive stress-free.
Take the shuttle bus!
To ensure that the way home is just as relaxed as the beats on the lake, free shuttle buses will be running between Seaside Beach and the Rüttenscheid district of Essen from 7 p.m. to midnight. The organizer wants to ensure a relaxed return journey.
Early Birds win
So those who arrive early will have a less stressful party. The traffic control team from the public order office will be on site to keep a watchful eye on the parking situation. So please: If you don't want to risk a parking ticket or, in the worst case, being towed away, please be considerate, be patient and bring a good mood - this will ensure a successful festival experience on the shores of Lake Baldeney.
