Events and Concerts: A Unique Setting for Big Names
The Seaside Beach has established itself in the music scene as a stage for concerts, festivals, and great moments since its first concert in 2016. When the sun slowly disappears behind the hills and the beach is bathed in golden light, the Seaside Beach transforms into one of Germany's most impressive open-air locations. The stage is right on the water, the light reflects on the surface, and the palm trees form a backdrop that one would otherwise expect on Mediterranean coasts.
No wonder that numerous national and international artists have chosen this location for their performances. Peter Fox, Apache 207, Die Fantastischen Vier, Cro, Scooter, Rea Garvey, Sarah Connor, Deichkind, David Guetta, Seeed, Mark Forster, Materia & Casper, Alligatoah and many others have already played here in front of thousands of fans. In addition to individual concerts, the Seaside Beach has also established itself as a festival location. SMAG Sundance The Open Air Festival attracts electronic music fans to the lake every year, transforming the beach into a vibrant sea of beats and colors. The „Home & Garden“ garden show, on the other hand, showcased a completely different side of the area: here, the beach setting became a stage for plants, design, and lifestyle. In addition, there are rotating events and corporate parties that set new highlights each year.
From the outdoor pool to the beach paradise
The Seaside Beachis not only a modern leisure area but also a piece of Essen's history. In 1937, a large outdoor swimming pool was opened here, which was one of the most popular bathing establishments in the region with its pools, diving tower, and direct access to the lake. After the Second World War, the grounds were temporarily divided into an English and a German zone before being fully accessible to the public again in the 1950s. The closure of the outdoor pool in 1984 marked a turning point. The pools were later drained and the area was used as an open-air bath. Filling the pools with sand laid the foundation for today's Seaside Beach. A traditional outdoor swimming pool transformed into a modern beach, which on the one hand preserves the history of the place and on the other hand ushered in a new era.

Despite its vacation character, the Seaside Beach is astonishingly central. It is quickly accessible via the A40, A44, and A52 motorways, and parking is available in the immediate vicinity. Cyclists benefit from Ruhr Valley Cycle Route, which leads directly past the Seaside Beach, while hikers over the Baldeneysteig and other relaxed ways to get to the beach. The combination of nature and urban proximity makes the location one of the most easily accessible recreational destinations in the region.
Attractions in the neighborhood

The imposing building, the largest single-family house in the republic, and the extensive park are among the most important cultural sites in the Ruhr region.
