And because we here in the heart of the Ruhr region know how to enjoy life, our cake pops are allowed to exude a bit of "Ruhr area charm." Imagine: a coffee klatch with friends, accompanied by some lovingly decorated "Kumpel-Kugeln" (buddy balls) with licorice, caramel, or even a dough refined with a hint of malt beer – typical Ruhr area! Because between the coal mine tower and the allotment garden, it's not all work and no play, but also plenty of good food and drink.

Ingredients
For the dough 125 g butter
125 g sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
100 g flour
250 g cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
For the glaze 150 g white chocolate couverture
1 tsp coconut oil
Optional: food coloring (fat-soluble)
Chocolate or sugar sprinkles
Besides that Cake pop skewers

preparation
1. If making cake pops with a silicone mold, preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) using conventional oven settings (top and bottom heat). Alternatively, a cake pop maker, similar to a waffle iron, can be used. The cake pop maker bakes the dough balls particularly quickly and evenly.
2. Cream together butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs. Sift together flour, cornstarch, and baking powder, then fold into the batter.
3. Pour the batter into the baking pan and seal it. Keep in mind that the batter will expand during baking. Bake on the middle rack for about 20 minutes and let cool.
4. Melt the chocolate coating and coconut oil together in a double boiler, stirring constantly. Color with food coloring as desired. Place dough balls onto skewers and dip them in the melted chocolate. Let the excess chocolate drip off. Allow the cake pops to dry slightly while standing upright and decorate with chocolate or sugar sprinkles.
Decorative variety
From simple balls to elaborately decorated figures like frogs, Cookie Monster, Christmas trees or Hello Kitty – there are simply no limits to creativity when it comes to cake pops.
