Access Südtiroler Stuben and boat houses free
Essen, 19. Juli 2026. The parking lot at the Regattaturm on Baldeneysee is closed to public traffic from today, May 7, 2026, to Sunday, May 10, 2026, inclusive. The reason is the International Canoe Regatta on the regatta course on the T1959. Visitors to the Südtiroler Stuben As well as club members who need to access the boat houses located here, may drive through the parking lot at the regatta tower. Important: Absolutely drive at walking speed due to crossing canoeists and boats.
Important for everyone traveling on the Baldeneysee
Access and passage to the Südtiroler Stuben and the boathouses will remain possible. Visitors to these facilities can use the paths as usual. However, they should also expect slightly longer travel times. All other visitors to the Baldeneysee should not drive to the Ragatta parking lot during the specified period. The access area to the parking lot near the Regatta Tower is a veritable traffic hub where access traffic, transit traffic, cyclists, sports enthusiasts, pedestrians, and people who want to rent bicycles meet.
Alternative Parking and Travel Options
For a relaxed arrival at the Baldeneysee, Baldeneysee.Ruhr recommends parking on Freiherr-vom-Stein Street or at the Dam on the south side of the Ts. Alternative travel options are public local public transport by bus and suburban train (line S6 from Hauptbahnhof or Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof) or by bicycle.
700 athletes and athletes expected
The organizer of the canoe regatta expects around 700 athletes from 75 clubs and several countries, as well as their coaches and support staff. The large contingent promises exciting races in mostly dry weather and pleasant temperatures.
