Closure of the private road between Werden and Wehr
Anyone who wants to move from Essen-Werden coming from Essen-Werden towards Baldeneysee should be prepared for a small detour: The Ruhrverband has begun the comprehensive renewal of the private access road to the Baldeney weir and run-of-river power station. The heavily used cobblestone road, which has been damaged by heavy goods traffic and renovation work in recent years, is to be replaced with a modern asphalt surface.
Full closure with exceptions - detour via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße past the ETUF golf course
During the construction phase, the existing access road will be closed to general traffic. Only essential transportation and emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass. An alternative route has been set up for pedestrians and cyclists: it leads via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße and past the ETUF golf course directly to the Werden weir. In this way, the Baldeneysee and the weir can still be easily reached via a short detour.
Completion planned by the end of 2025
The construction work should be completed by the end of December 2025. The Ruhrverband asks all visitors for their understanding for the temporary restrictions - and promises a significantly improved infrastructure for the future.
