Culinary train station

Lukas in the old Prussian train station in Kupferdreh, now known as "Alter Bahnhof Kupferdreh", is a restaurant with a wide range of gastronomic offerings that uses the former ticket hall and waiting halls as well as the outdoor area. Sunday breakfast, beer garden, restaurant, event location, cinema and concerts - Lukas is home to it all.

Convenient location

In summer, you can find a shady spot under old chestnut trees on beer benches. While the grown-ups relax, the little ones can let off steam in the in-house playground. Parking spaces can be found directly at Lukas or opposite in the parking lot at the sports hall. Due to its location near Baldeneysee and Kupferdreh bus station, Lukas is also easy to reach by bike, e-bike and public transport.

Historic stop

The imposing red-brick building used to be a port of call for travelers on the Ruhr Valley Railway, which ran along the north bank of the Baldeneysee over the Kupferdreh and Kettwig railroad bridge to Duisburg Ruhrort and users of the Hespertalbahn, also known as the Pörtingsiepenbahn, which ran along the south bank of the Baldeneysee along the south bank of the river to the Pörtingsiepen colliery in Essen Fischlaken. To this day, the association Hespertalbahn e.V. has dedicated itself to the preservation of this section of the line to Haus Scheppen to this day. It is located within sight directly opposite Lukas.

Cinema, concerts & co.

Behind the old train station, open-air cinema screenings are sometimes held in summer. Cookery courses, concerts etc. - the changing program at Lukas appeals to many people and the culinary offerings should also suit the tastes of almost all guests. The Ruhr region's popular dish, currywurst with or without chips, is just as much a part of the menu as burgers, veggie burgers and Wiener schnitzel. The standard menu is supplemented by a menu with changing daily recommendations.

Lukas, formerly Fritz

Not only diners are welcome, but also anyone looking for a rest and refreshment. While one area of the Old Station, a waiting hall decorated with stucco and sandstone, was reserved for first-class guests when it opened in 1898, there is no longer any separation of classes since the station was used as a restaurant. In the 1980s and 1990s, when the Alte Bahnhof was still called "Fritz", this area was used as a restaurant, while concerts and dance events took place next door and the waiting hall functioned as a pub. The situation is similar today at Lukas, although Lukas has also made a name for itself as a location for small and large celebrations, from birthdays and company anniversaries to weddings.

Kupferdreh and Kampmannbrücke

The building is a listed building and many historical stylistic elements have been preserved. In the immediate vicinity of Lukas' are the Hespertalbahn and the new Kampmann Bridge as well as the Kupferdreh bus station and the center of Kupferdreh.
