Romance on the Korte Klippe
The Korte Klippe is a vantage point on the Baldeneysee. It is located in the Heisingen district of Essen, more precisely on the path between the city forest and Heisingen. The Korte Klippe on the Baldeneysee can only be reached on foot or by bike. A small circular hiking trail marked with an S leads from Heisinger Straße to Korte Klippe after a five-minute walk.

From here you have a breathtaking view of the Baldeneysee. Because, as the name suggests, the Korte Klippe is located above the . Baldeneysee at a height of around 144 meters above sea level. A steep slope drops below the Korte Klippe down to the Baldeneysee. The geological hiking trail is also located here. The Baldeneysee Steig, also known as the Baldeney Steig, a 25-kilometre circular hiking trail over the heights of the Ruhr reservoir, also runs along here.
Memory of Essen horticultural director
Where sandstone was once extracted from quarries, Korte Klippe is a reminder of this time. This is because the Korte Klippe is fortified with a convex, half-height wall topped with sandstone. The cliff was named after the Essen horticultural director Rudolf Korte (+ 1950). A memorial stone erected here commemorates him.
Arrival and surroundings
If you arrive by car, park in the rear parking spaces opposite the restaurant. Jagdhaus Schellenberg opposite the restaurant. The bus stop "Schöne Aussicht" (as the Jagdhaus Schellenberg used to be called) is also located here. Close to Korte Klippe to the west are the Neu Isenburg ruins and the Hüttenzauber restaurant (formerly known as Heimliche Liebe) as well as the adjacent miniature golf course, Miniatur Golf am Stadtwald. Schellenberg Castle is located to the south-east of Korte Klippe.
