Romance on the Korte Klippe
The Korte Klippe This is a viewpoint at Baldeneysee. It is located in the Heisingen district of Essen, more precisely on the path between the city forest and Heisingen. Korte Klippe at Baldeneysee can only be reached on foot or by bicycle. A small circular hiking trail, marked with an "S", leads from Heisinger Straße to Korte Klippe in about five minutes.

From here there is a breathtaking view of the Baldeneysee. Because, as the name suggests, the Korte Klippe is located above it. Baldeneysee at an altitude of approximately 144 meters above sea level. A steep slope drops below trail Korte Klippe down to trail Baldeneysee. The Geological Trail is also located here. Trail Baldeneysee is also located here. Baldeney Ascent, A circular hiking trail of approximately 25 kilometers across the heights of the Ruhr reservoir leads along here.
Remembering Essen's Director of Horticulture
Where sandstone was once quarried, the Korte Klippe rock formation serves as a reminder of that era. The Korte Klippe is reinforced with a convex, half-height wall, topped with sandstone blocks. The cliff is named after Rudolf Korte, the Essen director of horticulture (d. 1950). A memorial stone erected here commemorates him.
Arrival and surroundings
Those arriving by car should park in the rear parking spaces, which are located opposite the restaurant. Jagdhaus Schellenberg The bus stop "Schöne Aussicht" (formerly known as Jagdhaus Schellenberg) is also located here. Near Korte Klippe, to the west, are... Neu Isenburg ruins and the Hüttenzauber excursion restaurant (formerly Secret love) as well as the adjacent miniature golf course, Miniatur Golf am Stadtwald. Schellenberg Castle is located southeast of the Korte Klippe.
Peace and romance
Sunrise is a particularly beautiful time on the Korte Klippe. The rising sun bathes the hilly landscape on the north bank in soft pastel hues. A place of peace and romance in the five-million-strong metropolis of the Ruhr region. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the Korte Klippe can get a bit livelier. This spot is also popular for spontaneous parties on the Baldeneysee.
