International Canoe Spring Regatta 2026 in the Livestream on Baldeneysee

Essen, Germany, May 6, 2026. Essen is getting ready for one of the sporting highlights of the year: from May 8 to 10, 2026, the Regattabahn will once again transform into a grand stage for international canoe sprint. The International Canoe Spring Regatta Essen 2026 brings together around 700 athletes from 75 clubs from home and abroad, including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy, for one of the first regattas of the season – and it also carries special sporting significance.

Because embedded in the regatta is the West German Championship in single sculls over the long distance, a true test for competitive athletes. The event is organized by the Kanu-Regatta-Verein 1923 e.V., supported by the Canoe Association of North Rhine-Westphalia.

A total of 215 boats from 120 clubs have registered – an impressive field competing for times, rankings, and prestige in 15 boat classes plus para-rowing. The small boat championships are traditionally considered one of the toughest benchmarks in German rowing: those who impress here lay the foundation for the season in the large boats and for potential international assignments.
