Haus Scheppen – Lehnshof
Haus Scheppen is a listed building and archaeological site at Baldeneysee Dating from the 14th century, the historic estate of the former abbey (Werden) takes its name from the "Lords of Scheppen," the former tenants. Parts of the medieval ruins are still preserved today. The Essen Sailing and Canoeing Club (EFKV) has its headquarters here and uses the moat as a harbor.
Port Haus Scheppen
The harbor offers approximately 80 boat berths with electrical hookups, suitable for boats up to ten meters in length and with a draft of one meter thirty. Drinking water and a slipway are also available on site. Those interested should contact the harbor master at harbor Haus Scheppen.
Directions to Haus Scheppen
The Haus Scheppen estate once comprised up to 24 sub-farms and was one of the largest fiefs of the Werden Abbey. A public parking lot is located on Pörtingsiepen road shortly before Haus Scheppen. It is recommended to use this parking lot and walk the last few meters, as the few parking spaces directly in front of Haus Scheppen are usually already occupied and turning around is difficult due to the large size of the vehicle, especially for motorcycles, bicycles, and other vehicles.
