High traffic volume
On this weekend, July 8 and 9, 2023, due to several events around the Baldeneysee increased visitor flows and increased traffic volumes are to be expected. "This will lead to traffic restrictions," the city of Essen has now announced.
SMAG Sundance at Seaside Beach Baldeney
For example, on Saturday, July 8, SMAG Sundance at Seaside Beach Baldeney, Lerchenstraße will be open for half-sided parking in the direction of Essen-Werden (downhill) from the end of the development to the intersection with Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße. This will create around 250 additional parking spaces over a length of around 1,500 meters. Parking on Lerchenstraße in the opposite direction and therefore on the existing cycle lane is not possible. The entrance to the parking lot for Seaside Beach Baldeney on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße will be closed from 8 p.m. on the day of the event - with the exception of local residents and cabs.
S6 rail replacement service and shuttle service
As the S-Bahn line S6 is also currently not running due to track work, a rail replacement service for the S6 line has been set up using buses. These buses stop above the regatta grandstand at the Baldeneysee below the "Hügel" S-Bahn stop. In addition, the organizer has set up a shuttle service on the evening of 8 June 2023. Free shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes between the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße / Lerchenstraße intersection and Martinstraße in Essen-Rüttenscheid between 8 p.m. and midnight. The organizer will provide signs indicating the shuttle service and the rail replacement service with the different destination stops "Hauptbahnhof" and "Rüttenscheid").
1st and 2nd Kanupolo-Bundesliga in front of Regattatrübüne and Regattahaus
For the match days of the 1st and 2nd Canoe Polo Bundesliga on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 at the Baldeneysee 1st and 2nd Canoe Polo Bundesliga, the rear area of the parking lot at the regatta grandstand will be closed on both days of the event. Access to the parking lot via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße and parking in the unblocked area should be possible at all times.
Arrive early and don't park in the wrong place
All visitors are asked to arrive early throughout the weekend. The traffic control team from the public order office will be on site at the weekend to check the parking situation. So please do not park in the wrong place!
