
High traffic volume
This weekend, July 8th and 9th, 2023, there will be several events taking place around the Baldeneysee Increased visitor numbers and traffic volume are expected. “This will lead to traffic restrictions,“ the city of Essen has now announced.
SMAG Sundance in Seaside Beach Baldeney
This will lead to SMAG Sundance in the Seaside Beach Baldeney on Saturday, July 8th, Lerchenstraße in the direction of travel Essen-Werden (Downhill) from the end of the built-up area to the intersection with Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße, parking will be permitted on one side of the road. This will create approximately 250 additional parking spaces along a length of about 1,500 meters. Parking in the opposite direction on Lerchenstraße, and thus in the existing bike lane, will not be permitted. Access to the parking area for Seaside Beach Baldeney on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße will be closed from 8 p.m. on the day of the event – except for residents and taxis.
S6 rail replacement service and shuttle service
Since the S6 suburban train line is also currently out of service due to track work, a rail replacement bus service has been set up for the S6 line. These buses stop above the Regatta grandstand The event will take place on line Baldeneysee, below the S-Bahn station “Hügel”. Furthermore, the organizer has arranged a shuttle service for the evening of June 8, 2023. Free shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes between 8 pm and midnight between the intersection of Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße / Lerchenstraße and Martinstraße in Essen-Rüttenscheid. The organizer will provide signage indicating the shuttle service and the rail replacement bus service (with its various destinations: „Hauptbahnhof“ and „Rüttenscheid”).
1st and 2nd Canoe Polo Bundesliga in front of the regatta grandstand and Regattahaus
For the match days of the 1st and 2nd Canoe Polo Bundesliga taking place on Saturday, July 8th, and Sunday, July 9th, at the Baldeneysee, the rear section of the parking lot by the regatta grandstand will be closed on both days. Access to the parking lot via Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße and parking in the unblocked area will remain possible throughout.
Arrive early and don't park illegally.
All visitors are asked to arrive early throughout the weekend. Traffic wardens from the public order office will be on site over the weekend to monitor parking. So please don't park illegally!
