Rides on a historic steam locomotive* or diesel locomotive* of the Hespertalbahn on the Baldeneysee line in southern Essen are a very special, nostalgic experience. On certain dates, the diesel and steam locomotives, lovingly restored by the Hespertalbahn Association, are in operation.
The tour starts at the platform between the engine shed of the Hespertalbahn and the old Prussian station at Kupferdreh (Alter Bahnhof Kupferdreh), which today houses the Lukas and is used as a culinary station. Parking is available in the Hespertalbahn parking lot.
Railway enthusiasts can experience pure nostalgia on a ride with the diesel or steam locomotive of the Hespertalbahn, because not only the train locomotives are historic, but also the passenger cars make the nostalgia of past decades tangible on these special trips on the Baldeneysee.
A notice:
The deployment of the locomotives may change at short notice for technical reasons.
