The Ludgerus Festival in Essen-Werden will take place from September 5th to 7th, 2025.
It begins on Friday, September 5th, at 7 pm with an ecumenical service in the Basilica of St. Ludgerus and the raising of the shrine.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the basilica will be open all day and prayers can be offered at the shrine.
Sunday, September 7th – 10:00 am Festive church service
The highlight follows on Sunday, September 7th: a festive church service at 10 a.m., followed by a festive procession and gathering on the church hill, as well as a solemn vespers service with the return of the
Shrine at 6 p.m. with the participation of the Essen Cathedral Choirboys.
