Hazardous materials must never be disposed of in the regular household waste bin, as they pose a risk to the environment and human health. Therefore, they must be disposed of properly. Please return hazardous materials in their original containers whenever possible. Acceptance in Essen-Heisingen is free of charge and applies to household quantities only.

What are pollutants?

Hazardous substances include all toxic and corrosive materials. These include, among others:

• Batteries (car and small batteries)
• brake fluid
• coolant
• chemicals
• Energy-saving lamps
• fluorescent tubes
• Paints and varnishes
• solvent
• Acids and alkalis
• Household cleaner
• Plant toxins
• Spray cans with residue

Small electrical appliances such as hair dryers, razors, toasters, or drills can be dropped off at the mobile hazardous waste collection point. Motor and transmission oil are only accepted at the recycling center.
Important:

Used brushes, paint rollers, paint grids and empty and dry paint buckets should be disposed of via the grey bin.
