Railroad enthusiasts can experience pure nostalgia on a ride with the steam locomotive* of Hespertalbahn. In the south of Essen, directly on the Baldeneysee steam locomotive rides take place several times a year. The special thing about this experience is that it's not just the steam locomotives, which are monuments to the industrial history of the Ruhr region, that turn back the clock; the line between the old Kupferdreh station and Haus Scheppen is also a living relic of 19th century history.
At a speed of around 15 km/h, the steaming bolide stomps along the south side of Lake Baldeney towards Fischlaken. Passengers can experience the history of the railroad and the industrialization of Germany, which had an important center in the Ruhr region, from historical passenger trains.
