Bats communicate through calls. Using an ultrasonic receiver, bat species found in forests, fields, meadows, and over water are located during the guided tour. Why do bats only fly at night and not during the day? In addition to learning about bat communication and navigation, questions about this fascinating topic are answered during the tour. Roosting sites and winter quarters remain off-limits, as these are protected by bat conservation laws. Because bats hibernate, the bat tours can only be conducted during the warmer months, from mid-April to mid-October.
