The Appeltatenkirmes in Essen – also known as Ludgerus-Kirmes – is the oldest fair in Essen and one of the most traditional annual markets in North Rhine-Westphalia. It will take place from September 4 to 7, 2026, at the square of the former Feintuchwerke and attracts visitors to the edge of the picturesque Werden old town.

The eponymous Appeltaten, an autumn apple cake creation, are naturally just as essential to this funfair in the Ruhr Valley as the rides for young children, teenagers, and adults. This cross-generational appeal makes the autumn funfair in 45239 Essen particularly popular with families.
