Fascinating animals and their endangered habitats

Bats are fascinating mammals that have amazing abilities and are an important part of the ecosystem. The night owls are able to fly and use echolocation to find their way in the dark and locate their food. Unfortunately, many bat species are now threatened, especially in urban and densely populated areas where their natural habitat is increasingly restricted by human activities. Despite these challenges, there are still some places that are home to bats - including Baldeneysee, in the heart of the Ruhr area, known as the Ruhr Metropolis.

In the evening, various species of bat can be observed here, which become active at nightfall and perform impressive flight maneuvers.
