First stages arrived: Assembly at the regatta stand at Baldeneysee has begun
Essen, Germany, July 8, 2026. Something is happening in Essen. After long preparations at the regatta stand construction site – many had already spoken of a standstill in the work – another important step towards the completion of the new regatta stand has begun. The first steps are here and assembly has already started on the construction site. The impressive construction parts were delivered by heavy-duty transporters and are now being expertly assembled on the lakefront by specialized teams. Logistical challenge mastered
The steps, cast from concrete, had to be transported in several shipments by heavy-duty trucks to the Baldeneysee to be brought. The narrow riverbank zone places particular demands on the approach and unloading of the heavy elements. Thanks to precise planning and coordination, it was possible to bring the components to the construction site seemingly undamaged. On-site, experienced craftspeople are now assembling the steps on a stable foundation that was previously prepared. With the help of cranes and hoists, the individual steps are safely positioned and finally attached to the already existing structure. This step is crucial for the later stability and safety of the grandstand.

An important milestone for regatta operations
The new grandstand at Baldeneysee will offer spectators a comfortable and safe seating option for regattas and other water sports events in the future. Excursionists will also be pleased once the regatta grandstand is completed. The current construction phase is advancing the project significantly, suggesting that the opening date next year is realistic and achievable.
