The Baldeneysee, named after the village of Baldeney, which was submerged by its waters, is the largest of the six reservoirs on the Ruhr River. Villa Hügel
Towering above the lake is Villa Hügel, the former residence of the Essen-based Krupp steel dynasty. The imposing building is nestled within the... Hügelpark, a green area of approximately 23 hectares, where around 7,000 trees of about 120 different species have been planted. The S-Bahn line 6, which runs between Essen Central Station and Cologne Central Station, separates the Hügelpark from the Baldeneysee and offers quick access to the Baldeneysee from the Hügel stop for everyone without a car and without the hassle of searching for parking.

Routes and ruins
