Arrival at Baldeneysee
All options for arriving and departing from the Baldeneysee in Essen on the Ruhr by car, public transport such as bus, train, ship or motorcycle or bicycle to the parking lot at the Regatta grandstand, the central point on the Baldeneysee.

S-Bahn S6
The S6 suburban train line of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR) runs between Essen Central Station and Cologne-Deutz, via Düsseldorf and the Cologne Trade Fair grounds, to Cologne-Nippes. The "Hügel" (Hill) suburban train station is located directly above the regatta grandstand at Baldeneysee. From here, it's just a few steps down to Baldeneysee. The Hügel station is not wheelchair accessible. A Deutsche Bahn ticket machine is located at the entrance and exit of the station. From here, passengers can take the Weisse Flotte (White Fleet) passenger boats (Baldeney) from the Hügel landing stage, opposite the Hügel station, to various points at Baldeneysee.
Accessible
For a short walk to Baldeneysee, it is recommended to get off at the S6 stop Essen Werden or Essen Stadtwald. The S-Bahn stop Essen Werden is wheelchair accessible. From here, walk along the Ruhr River, either parallel to the B224 to the weir, or cross the Gustav-Heinemann Bridge and then follow the towpath down to the water, past Brehminsel and... Neukircher Mill towards the weir.
The Essen Stadtwald S-Bahn station is not wheelchair accessible. From here, take the path at Stadtwaldplatz to Lerchenstraße. A pedestrian and cycle path runs parallel to Lerchenstraße on both sides, leading directly down to the Baldeneysee.
Bus stop Hügel / Regattahaus
The so-called 'SeeLinie' 181 of the Essen transport company stops directly at the specially created stop (H) Hügel / Regattahaus. During the summer months, the SeeLinie runs on weekends and public holidays between Essen Werden, Porthofplatz stop, via Stadtwaldplatz to Essen Heisingen, stop Baldeneysee. From here, passengers can reach various points along Baldeneysee using the passenger ships of the Weisse Flotte (White Fleet) Baldeney from the Hügel landing stage, opposite the Hügel stop.
Bus stop Werden S-Bahn station
Bus lines 169, 180, 181 and 190 stop at the S-Bahn station Essen Werden. From there, take the S-Bahn S6 to the Hügel stop, or on summer weekends, take the SeeLinie 181.
Bus stop Stadtwaldplatz
Bus lines 142, 145, 146, 175, 181 and 194 stop at the Stadtwaldplatz bus stop. There, passengers can transfer to the S-Bahn S6 to the Hügel stop, or on summer weekends, also to the SeeLinie 181 bus.
City tour
The city tours of Essen in open-top double-decker buses from Essen Central Station also stop at bus stop Baldeneysee, Hügel / Regattahaus. From here, the Villa Hügel with the Sparrow House, the Villa Hügel Park with its unique botany and old trees, the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Krupp Forest, the Klusen Chapel and of course, the Baldeneysee can be reached on foot. Various points along the Baldeneysee can be reached from the Hügel landing stage using the passenger ships of the Weisse Flotte (White Fleet) Baldeney.
Bicycle
Cycling is the most flexible way to get around the Baldeneysee area. The Baldeneysee is located at an altitude of 52 meters, essentially in a valley. Since the surrounding districts are all at higher elevations, a bicycle with gears is always recommended.

on foot
Many roads lead from the districts of Essen. Bredeney, Stadtwald, Heisigen, Fischlaken, Heidhausen, Schuir and Werden to Baldeneysee. For example, from Stadtwald parallel to Lerchenstraße, from Bredeney through the Krupp-Wald along the Villa Hügel Park, through the Heisinger Auen and through the Fischlaken fields.
Weisse Flotte Baldeney
The Weisse Flotte Baldeney operates a fleet of passenger ships that serve all the landing stages around the Baldeneysee. This makes it easy to reach all locations along the Baldeneysee by water. At the Hügel landing stage, there are connections to buses or the S-Bahn (suburban train).
