The meeting point for the 2026 bat tours is the Kupferdreh market in Essen- Kupferdreh, from where the exciting discovery tour around Baldeneysee begins. Bats communicate using high-frequency calls that are inaudible to humans without technical aids. During the tour, participants will use an ultrasound receiver to locate the various bat species that inhabit forests, fields, meadows, and bodies of water.
A central part of the tour is the question of why bats fly exclusively at night and how they navigate using echolocation. Participants gain fascinating insights into the behavior, communication, and lifestyle of these extraordinary animals.
Roosting sites and winter quarters will remain deliberately undisturbed, as they are under strict protection. Since bats hibernate, the bat tours in 2026 will take place exclusively during the warmer months, from mid-April to mid-October.

Fantastischen Vier – The Last Bus Final Tour 26-28 – Live Open Air at Baldeneysee. Fantastischen Vier will perform their fourth and final tour on August 29, 2027.
Die Fantastischen Vier will perform for the fourth and final time on August 29, 2027, as part of their "Der letzte Bus – Final Tour 26-28" at Seaside Beach Baldeney am Baldeneysee in Essen. Exactly two years after their third gig at the beach club Seaside Beach Baldeney, "Fanta 4" will rock the north bank of Baldeneysee with their German rap.
The four musicians from Swabia already performed at the largest Ruhr reservoir in 2017, 2019, and 2025. All three events at venues Seaside Beach and Baldeney were sold out. Tickets are still available – "while supplies last," as they say. For those who missed the three previous concerts, here's a brief recap:
The band's concert at Baldeneysee in 2019 was the grand finale of their "Captain Fantastic Open Air Tour." It took place on a Friday at the end of August and was blessed with perfect weather. Around 20,000 visitors celebrated, and the venue at Baldeneysee in the Seaside Beach Baldeney area provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The performance by Die Fantastischen Vier thrilled the fans, and the atmosphere was absolutely unique.
The lake also shook in 2017 and 2025 when Smudo aka Michael Bernd Schmidt, Michael “Michi” Beck, Thomas D for Dürr – and producer Andreas Rieke aka And.Ypsilon – took to the stage at Baldeneysee. This time, you'll need to be quick and secure your tickets, because this tour is supposed to be the last.
