Railroad enthusiasts can experience pure nostalgia on a ride with the steam locomotive* of Hespertalbahn. In the south of Essen, directly on the Baldeneysee steam locomotive rides take place several times a year. The special thing about this experience is that it's not just the steam locomotives, which are monuments to the industrial history of the Ruhr region, that turn back the clock; the line between the old Kupferdreh station and Haus Scheppen is also a living relic of 19th century history.

About the tour
Bats communicate by calling. With the help of an ultrasonic receiver, bat species found in forests, fields, meadows and over water are tracked down during the tour. Why do bats only fly at night and not during the day? In addition to the communication and orientation methods of bats, questions about this exciting topic are answered during the tour. Roosts and winter quarters remain off limits, as these are subject to the protection of bats. As bats hibernate, the bat tours can only take place during the warmer months from mid-April to mid-October.

Both times, the musicians played at the sold-out Seaside Beach Baldeney. Tickets are currently still available - "while stocks last", as they say. For all those who were unable to experience the two previous concerts live, here is a brief review:
The band's concert at Baldeneysee in 2019 was the crowning finale of their "Captain Fantastic Open Air Tour". It took place on a Friday at the end of August and was accompanied by perfect weather. Around 20,000 visitors celebrated and the location on Baldeneysee at Seaside Beach Baldeney provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The Fantastic Four's performance thrilled the fans and the atmosphere was absolutely unique.

CRO* at Baldeneysee? Fact! - The Swabian rapper will be playing a concert at Seaside Beach Baldeney on 30.08.2025. As part of the 'CRO - CRONICLES TOUR', CRO will be making a guest appearance at this special location. The Appeltatenkirmes in Essen-Werden - also known as the Ludgerus Kirmes - is the oldest fair in Essen and one of the most traditional fairs in North Rhine-Westphalia. It takes place from September 5 to 8, 2025 on the Werdender Feintuchwerke square and attracts visitors to the edge of Werdener Altstadt picturesque Werdener Altstadt.
The eponymous Appeltaten, an autumnal apple pie creation, is of course just as much a part of this funfair in the Ruhr Valley as rides for young children, teenagers and adults. This cross-age orientation makes the autumn fair in 45239 Essen-Werden particularly popular with families.
The event has its origins in the Ludgerusfest, which goes back to a historic vow and is still associated with the fair today. Anyone who wants to experience a mixture of tradition, entertainment and enjoyment should not miss this traditional festival in September each year.
